Let's face it when it comes to aging--none of us can stop it. It's a complex issue that has many contributing components and varying medical and scientific perspectives. But most will agree that inflammation, free radicals and oxidative stress are the culprits that are directly linked to the onset of chronic disease and premature aging. Every second of our life, our cells are bombarded by particles called free radicals. Our bodies are designed to protect us from these free radicals, but several factors including aging can cause our immune system to be compromised. So even though we can't completely escape this bombardment of free radicals in our environment, we can take many measures to remove the toxins from our body, home and environment to help slow down and even reverse the aging process. Today, I'm going to focus on the power of nutrition. I'm not claiming to have any medical authority here, but I do know after working with some of the top nutritionists in the world and from my own research that no matter how clean you are eating--you're probably not getting the nutrients your body needs from your food. Moreover, an apple today contains a fraction of the nutrients it did 50 years ago because modern agricultural methods have depleted our soils across the globe of the essential nutrients our bodies need where we grow our food. An article in the Scientific of American from the Journal of American College of Nutrition said, "A landmark study on the topic by Donald Davis and his team of researchers from the University of Texas (UT) at Austin’s Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry was published in December 2004 in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition. They studied U.S. Department of Agriculture nutritional data from both 1950 and 1999 for 43 different vegetables and fruits, finding “reliable declines” in the amount of protein, calcium, phosphorus, iron, riboflavin (vitamin B2) and vitamin C over the past half century. Davis and his colleagues chalk up this declining nutritional content to the preponderance of agricultural practices designed to improve traits (size, growth rate, pest resistance) other than nutrition." So, even though our fruits and vegetables aren't what they used to be--they still are our most powerful source of antioxidants. There is also a hierarchy of fruits and vegetables that are deemed superfruits that are known to contain the most powerful and plentiful sources of antioxidants that help fight off those free radicals and inflammation. Vasayo's Liposomal Antioxidant Super-Blend, Eternal, contains ten of the world's most powerful superfruits...
